Position: Senior Executive – Transportation

Job Summary:

The Senior Executive – Transportation is responsible for overseeing and optimizing transportation operations within the warehouse industry. This role ensures timely and cost-effective movement of goods, manages logistics service providers, and implements strategies to enhance transportation efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transportation Planning & Execution

• Manage daily transportation operations, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of goods.
• Plan and optimize vehicle routing to reduce transportation costs and improve efficiency.
• Monitor vehicle utilization and turnaround time to enhance productivity.
• Ensure proper documentation for shipments, including invoices, delivery notes, and compliance paperwork.

2. Vendor & Fleet Management

• Coordinate with transport vendors, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and internal fleet teams.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with transport service providers for cost-effective operations.
• Track and assess vendor performance based on key metrics such as on-time delivery, service quality, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure timely renewal of vehicle permits, insurance, and regulatory documentation.

3. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with government transportation regulations and company policies.
• Implement and monitor safety protocols for drivers and transport operations.
• Conduct periodic audits of transport activities to minimize risks and losses.

4. Cost & Performance Analysis

• Monitor transportation costs and identify areas for cost reduction.
• Generate reports on freight expenses, delivery timelines, and efficiency metrics.
• Use data analytics to recommend improvements in transport planning and execution.

5. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with warehouse, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Address transportation-related issues and resolve delivery discrepancies.
• Communicate with customers and partners regarding shipment tracking and updates.

Skills & Qualifications:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A diploma or certification in logistics and transportation management is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and logistics software.
• Knowledge of GPS tracking, fleet management tools, and route optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with transportation laws, customs clearance, and compliance requirements.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

Experience:

• 4–8 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management.
• Experience in warehouse-based transportation and distribution is preferred.
